Manifesto

Manifesto

German artist Julian Rosefeldt and Australian actress Cate Blanchett have collaborated on the project Manifesto presented at the Art Gallery of NSW. Thirteen different personas, embodied by the enigmatic Cate, presenting monologues based on the manifestos of some of the most provocative writers of the past 100 years. The manifestos were interpreted and visually recreated by the cinematic talent of Rosefeldt. Ideas expressed by groups such as the Dadaists, Futurists, Situationists and Surrealists to ideas penned by individual artists, film makers, architects and dancers.

“I speak only of myself since I do not wish to convince, I have no right to drag others into my river, I oblige no one to follow me and everybody practices his art in his own way."
- Tristan Tzara "Dada Manifesto 1918”
